Moly terms of use
The terms for using Moly, in plain words. Last updated 5 November 2026 (beta). They cover the Moly browser extension, the Moly app that runs on your computer, and the Moly app for Android.
Who provides it
Moly is published by Hermes Software (Themis Angelopoulos, an independent developer based in Greece) as open-source software under the MIT licence. Contact: Hermes_creative@proton.me.
What it is
- Moly is a free beta writing coach. It asks questions about what you want to say and helps you write. It does not decide for you, and what you send is your own responsibility.
- Moly is not a medical, legal, financial, psychological or crisis service, and its replies are not professional advice. If you are in danger or thinking of hurting yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.
- Replies are produced by an AI model and can be wrong or unsuitable. Read what Moly writes before you use it.
Your AI provider and your key
- Moly works with a model on your own computer (Ollama) or with your own Claude or OpenAI key. With a cloud provider, the text of each turn is sent to that provider, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to what it receives.
- The key stays on your device. You pay your provider yourself and you are responsible for the key and for the costs the provider charges.
What you may do
- Use Moly to think through and write your own messages.
- Do not use it to harm others, to break the law, or to try to make it produce harmful content. Moly refuses clear requests of that kind.
The message card
A small card with a message from Moly or a sponsor may appear below the writing box. It is labelled, it can be hidden, and Moly has no advertising network.
Your data
Your conversations stay on your device and you can export or delete them at any time. The details are in the privacy policy.
No warranty
The beta is provided "as is", without a promise that it is correct, complete, always available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Hermes Software is not liable for losses that come from using it. Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have by law as a consumer, or liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Changes
These terms may change as Moly leaves beta, for example when paid features are added. The date above shows the latest version. Using Moly after a change means accepting it.
